The Ohana Volleyball Club is pleased to announce our upcoming Spring and Summer Individual Volleyball Clinic Sessions for 2013.  Our first clinic session will be held on Monday, May 13th and will continue through the month of July.  The full schedule and registration instructions can be found on the Tryouts/Camps/Clinics page.  Registration is currently open right now!

Congratulations to our Ohana Volleyball Club teams for an outstanding performance at the 2013 Iowa Regionals Tournament.  Here were our results:

Ohana Black 10th Grade Team - 7th place in Gold Tournament
Ohana Green 10th Grade Team - 6th place in Silver Tournament
Ohana Black 9th Grade Team - 5th place in Silver Tournament
Ohana Green 9th Grade Team - 8th place in Gold Tournament
Ohana Black 8th Grade Team - 8th place in Silver Tournament
Ohana Green 8th Grade Team - 1st place in Silver Tournament
Ohana Black 7th Grade Team - 8th place in Gold Tournament
Ohana Green 7th Grade Team - 7th place in Silver Tournament

The 2013 tournament season for Ohana is now here!  The final results from the tournaments are listed below:

Ohana Black 7th Grade Team (2 Titles):

April 13th & 14th:  Iowa Regionals (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 7th Grade team placed 8th out of 33 teams in the Gold Tournament.

April 6th:  I-80 Blues Tournament (Bondurant) - Ohana Black 7th Grade team placed 2nd in this tournament.

March 9th:  Johnston Spiketacular Tournament (Johnston) - Ohana Black 7th Grade team wins their second title going undefeated in pool play, winning in two games over the Ohana Green 7th Grade team, and winning in three games in the championship game.

February 16th & 17th:  Presidents' Day Tournament (Minneapolis) - Ohana Black 7th Grade team tied for 3rd out of 52 teams losing in the semi-finals of the championship flight of the Silver Division.
 

February 2nd: Six Pack Tournament (Cedar Falls) - Ohana Black 7th Grade team placed second out of eight teams.  They went 6 - 0 in pool play, won in the semi-finals of the championship bracket in two sets, but lost in three very close games in the championship game.  This is their third championship game appearance in a row!

January 26th:  IPVA Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 7th Grade team emerged as champions of this tournament.  They went 6 - 0 in pool play, won in two games in the semi-finals of the championship bracket, and won the championship game in three games. 

January 13th:  IPVA Tournament (Marshalltown) - Ohana Black 7th Grade team placed second out of eight teams.  They went 4 - 2 in pool play, won a close three-set, semi-final match in the championship bracket, and lost in two close sets in the championship match.
 


Ohana Green 7th Grade Team (2 Titles): 
April 27th & 28th:  Iowa Regionals (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 7th Grade team placed 7th out of 19 teams in the Silver Tournament.  They won the championship game of the bronze division in three sets.

April 6th:  I-80 Blues Tournament (Bondurant) - Ohana Green 7th Grade team placed 4th in this tournament.

March 9th:  Johnston Spiketacular Tournament (Johnston) - Ohana Green 7th Grade team went 6 - 2 in pool play placing second in their pool.  They lost to the Ohana Black 7th Grade team in the semi-finals of the championship bracket to tie for third out of 10 teams in this tournament. 

February 16th & 17th:  Presidents' Day Tournament (Minneapolis) - Ohana Green 7th Grade team won the championship game of Flight 5 of the Silver Division placing 33rd overall.

February 2nd:  Six Pack Tournament (Cedar Falls) - Ohana Green 7th Grade team won the Consolation Bracket Championship.  They went 3 - 4 in pool play, won the semi-final match of the consolation bracket, and won the final match in three tough games to place 5th in this tournament. 

January 26th:  IPVA Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 7th Grade team placed 6th in this tournament.  They went 4 - 2 in pool play tying for second in pool play.  They lost the tie-breaking game and was placed in the consolation bracket.  In a hard fought semi-final match, they lost in three sets.   

January 19th: Simpson Tournament (Indianola) - Ohana Green 7th Grade team tied for third out of ten teams. They went 6 - 2 in pool play but lost in two close sets in the semi-final match of the championship bracket.


Ohana Black 8th Grade Team: 
April 27th & 28th:  Iowa Regionals (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 8th Grade team placed 8th out of 19 teams in the Silver Tournament. 

April 7th:  Grandview Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 8th Grade team placed third in this tournament.

March 9th:  Johnston Spiketacular Tournament (Johnston) - Ohana Black 8th Grade team went 6 - 2 in pool play placing second in their pool.  They lost in the semi-finals of the championship bracket in three close games to tie for third out of 10 teams in this tournament. 

February 16th & 17th:  Presidents' Day Tournament (Minneapolis) - Ohana Black 8th Grade team tied for 5th place out of 56 teams losing in the quarter-finals of the championship flight of the Bronze Division.

February 10th:  Ohana Black 8th Grade team placed 5th out of 12 teams in this tournament.  They went 6 - 4 in pool play placing 3rd and advancing to the silver bracket for tournament play.  In tournament play, they won easily in the semi-final match and then won a hard-fought, three-set match in the finals to win the Silver bracket.

February 2nd:  Six Pack Tournament (Cedar Falls) - Ohana Black 8th Grade team tied for third out of eight teams.  They went 2 - 1 (match record) in pool play emerging as the 2nd place team coming out of their pool.  In a tight, three-set match, they lost in the semi-final game in the championship bracket.

January 13th:  IPVA Tournament (Marshalltown) - Ohana Black 8th Grade team tied for third place out of eight teams.  They went 4 - 2 in pool play but lost in two tough sets in the semi-final match in the championship bracket.


Ohana Green 8th Grade Team (4 Titles): 
April 27th & 28th:  Iowa Regionals (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 8th Grade team won the Silver Tournament!

April 7th:  Grandview Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 8th Grade team placed 2nd in this tournament.

March 30th:  SE Polk Tournament (Altoona) - Ohana Green 8th Grade team went 5 and 1 in pool play, won a very close match in the semi-finals, and won in three, highly-contested games in the championship match to win their third tournament.

March 3rd:  Grand View Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 8th Grade team went undefeated in pool play and in championship tournament play to claim their second tournament championship!

January 19th: Six Pack Tournament (Cedar Falls) - Ohana Green 8th Grade team started strong with a close three set win in pool play but struggled through the remaining tournament. They went 1-2 in pool play and lost in two sets in the semi-final match of the consolation bracket.



Ohana Black 9th Grade Team: 
April 27th & 28th:  Iowa Regionals (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 9th Grade team placed 5th out of 17 teams in the Silver Tournament.

March 10th:  IPVA Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 9th Grade team went 1 and 2 in pool play and lost in the semi-final round of the Consolation Bracket in this tournament.

February 16th & 17th:  Presidents' Day Tournament (Minneapolis) - Ohana Black 9th Grade team tied for 43rd place out of 64 teams losing in the semi-finals of flight 6 of the Silver Division 16's tournament.  They played against 10th grade teams in this tournament.

February 3rd:  Pella Tournament (Pella) - Ohana Black 9th Grade team tied for third in this tournament.  They went 7 - 1 in pool play and emerged as the top seed going into tournament play.  However, they lost a close, two-set game in the semi-final match of the championship bracket.

January 27th:  IPVA Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 9th Grade team won the championship of the consolation bracket.  They placed third in pool play, won the semi-final match in two sets, and won the championship match of the consolation bracket in three sets.

January 13th: Prairie V-Ball Tournament (Cedar Rapids) - Ohana Black 9th Grade team went 2 - 4 in pool play, won their semi-final match in the consolation bracket, and won the finals match to emerge as the consolation bracket champions!



Ohana Green 9th Grade Team (3 Titles): 
April 13th & 14th:  Iowa Regionals (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 9th Grade team placed 8th out of 27 teams in the Gold Tournament.

March 9th:  Johnston Spiketacular Tournament (Johnston) - Ohana Green 9th Grade team went 5 - 3 in pool play and had to play a one-game playoff to determine who would move to the Championship Bracket.  They won that playoff game.  They then won the semi-final game and the championship game to win their third title of the season.

February 16th & 17th:  Presidents' Day Tournament (Minneapolis) - Ohana Green 9th Grade team placed 18th out of 64 teams losing in the championship game of flight 3 of the Silver Division 16's tournament.  They played against 10th grade teams in this tournament.

February 3rd:  Iowa Rockets Tournament (West Branch) - Ohana Green 9th Grade team tied for third in this tournament.  They placed second in their pool play with a 4 - 2 record.  In the quarter-final game of the championship bracket, they won in two decisive sets but lost to the eventual championship team in the semi-final match in three sets.

January 27th:  IPVA Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 9th Grade team won their second tournament in a row.  They went 3 - 0 in pool play, won the semi-final game in 3 sets, and won the championship game in 2 sets. 

January 19th: Six Pack Tournament (Marshalltown) - Ohana Green 9th Grade team are the champions of this tournament!  They went 3 - 0 in pool play, won in the semi-final match in the championship bracket, and won in the championship match.


Ohana Black 10th Grade Team (1 Title):
April 20th & 21st:  Iowa Regionals (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team placed 7th out of 16 teams in the Gold Tournament.

April 14th:  Sportsplex West Tournament (Waukee) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team placed 3rd in this tournament.

April 6th:  MVP Sports Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team placed 3rd in this tournament. 

March 3rd:  Beyond the Baseline Tournament (Davenport) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team went 6 and 2 in pool play, won their quarter-final match in two sets, but lost in the semi-final match of the championship bracket.  They tied for 3rd out of 15 teams in this tournament.

February 16th & 17th:  Presidents' Day Tournament (Minneapolis) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team tied for 13th out of 64 teams losing in the quarter-finals of flight 2 of the Silver Division.

February 10th:  Mount Mercy Tournament (Cedar Rapids) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team won this tournament!  They went 5 - 1 in pool play and a perfect 4 - 0 in tournament play to win their first tournament of the season.

January 27th:  IPVA Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team tied for second in this six-team, round-robin tournament with a 6 - 4 pool play record.  They just missed playing in the championship game through a head-to-head, pool-play tie breaker. 

January 6th:  Six Pack Tournament (Cedar Falls) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team started strong with a convincing two set win in pool play but struggled through the remaining tournament.  They went 2-4 in pool play and lost in three sets in the semi-final match of the consolation bracket.


December 30th:  Powerplex Tournament (Des Moines Hy-Vee Hall) - Ohana Black 10th Grade team placed second out of nine teams with a close loss in three sets in the championship game.  They went 6 - 2 (game record) in pool play. 


Ohana Green 10th Grade Team:
April 27th & 28th:  Iowa Regionals (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 10th Grade Green team placed 6th in the Silver Tournament.

April 14th:  Sportsplex West Tournament (Waukee) - Ohana Green 10th Grade team won the championship of the Consolation Bracket of this tournament placing 5th overall.

February 16th & 17th:  Presidents' Day Tournament (Minneapolis) - Ohana Green 10th Grade team placed 26th out of 64 teams losing in the championship game of flight 4 of the Silver Division.

February 3rd:  Norwalk Tournament (Norwalk) - Ohana Green 10th Grade team went 3 - 3 placing 3rd in pool play.  They won their semi-final match in the consolation bracket in 2 games but lost in the championship game in two close sets to place 6th in this tournament.

January 27th:  IPVA Tournament (Des Moines) - Ohana Green 10th Grade team went 2 - 8 in this six-team, round-robin tournament.

Our Mission:

The Ohana Volleyball Club is an independent organization dedicated to the development of girls’ volleyball skills, the establishment of team fundamentals, and the fostering of strong character.

Our Goals:

1.  Have players and coaches keep a positive mental attitude in every situation.

2.  Support your teammates on and off the court.

3.  Work hard and put forth honest effort that will lead to improved performance
     and participation in practice and in tournament play.

4.  Enjoy the sport of volleyball in order to make it a lifelong endeavor.

5.  Create a team of players who will continue to play together year after year.

6.  Make Ohana Volleyball Club and its philosophy the predominate club in the
     Des Moines area.
7.  Be competitive in every tournament that we enter.

8.  Foster a sense of family among the players, parents, and coaches.

9.  Keep an open mind and willingness to play any position that the coach deems
     best for the team.

10.  Have each player improve throughout the season in every volleyball skill.
