March 23rd:  Iowa Regionals Results:

Ohana 7th Grade Green - Champions of Silver Regionals!
Ohana 7th Grade Black - 2nd out of 21 teams in Silver Regionals
Ohana 7th Grade Boys - 9th out of 21 teams in Silver Regionals
Ohana 8th Grade Green - 24th out of 27 teams in Gold Regionals
Ohana 8th Grade Black - 15th out of 27 teams in Gold Regionals
Ohana 9th Grade Green - 11th out of 19 teams in Gold Regionals
Ohana 9th Grade Black - Champions of Silver Regionals!
Ohana 10th Grade Green - 13th out of 17 teams in Gold Regionals
Ohana 10th Grade Black - 5th out of 17 teams in Gold Regionals
Ohana 11th Grade Black - 15th out of 16 teams in 18s Qualifying Regionals*
Ohana 8th Grade Black - 13th out of 18 teams in 16s Qualifying Regionals*

* These two teams are the first Ohana VBC teams to ever participate in the National Qualifying Regionals.  Both teams played up an age group in this tournament.

March 9th: 
The Ohana Volleyball Club had 5 teams play in championship games this weekend.  Three of the teams came away with championships!  The 10th Grade Black, the 9th Grade Black, and the 8th Grade Black teams won their tournaments.  The 10th Grade Green and the 9th Grade Green teams placed second in their tournaments.

March 2nd:  We want to send congratulations to four of our Ohana teams for making the championship games of this weekend's tournaments!  The Ohana 7th Grade Black team, the 8th Grade Black team, and the 9th Grade Green team placed first in their tournaments and the 11th Grade Green team finished 2nd in their tournament.  Honorable mention goes out to the Ohana 7th Grade Green team for winning the Consolation Bracket championship!

February 23rd:  Another great weekend for Ohana volleyball teams!  The Ohana 11th Grade Black team won the Six Pack Tourney in Cedar Falls and the Ohana 9th Grade Black team won the Advocare Tourney in Marion.  Congratulations Champions!


January 27th: 
It was a great weekend for the Ohana volleyball teams!  Five Ohana teams made it into the Championship game of their respective tournaments.  That includes an all Ohana Championship final where the Ohana Black 8th grade team narrowly beat the Ohana Green 8th grade team to win the IPVA Tournament in Des Moines. 

The 2014 tournament season for Ohana is here!  The final results from the tournaments are listed below:

Ohana Black 7th Grade Team (1 Title):

March 23rd - Placed 2nd in the Silver Iowa Regionals.

March 1st - Davenport Tournament:  The Ohana 7th Grade Black team went 4-4 in pool play and then went 4-1 in tournament play to win their first title of the season!

January 19th - No Limits Tourney (Sterling, IL):  The Ohana Black 7th Grade team went 5-3 in games to place 3rd in pool play.  In the Consolation Bracket semi-final match, they lost in 3 hard-fought games.


Ohana Green 7th Grade Team (1 Title): 
March 23rd - Champions of the Silver Iowa Regionals tournament!

January 19th - No Limits Tourney (Sterling, IL):  The Ohana Green 7th Grade team went 3-5 in games to place 4th in pool play.  After winning the semi-finals of the Consolation Tourney in 3 games,  they lost in 2 sets in the championship game placing 6th out of 8 teams in the final standings.


Ohana 7th Grade Boys Team:
The Ohana Boys had a solid season placing 3rd in two tournaments and placing 9th out of 21 teams in the Silver Iowa Regionals!

Ohana Black 8th Grade Team (4 Titles):
 
March 8th - Iowa City Tournament:  The Ohana Black 8th Grade team won this tournament to make it four in a row!

March 2nd - Cedar Rapids Tournament:  The Ohana Black 8th Grade team went undefeated in this tournament to win their third straight championship!

February 9th - Simpson College Tourney (Indianola):  The Ohana Black 8th Grade team went undefeated in pool play and tournament play again to win their 2nd championship in a row!

January 26th - IPVA Tourney (Des Moines):  The Ohana Black 8th Grade team was undefeated in pool play and undefeated in tournament play to win their first championship of the season!

January 18th - Six Pack Tourney (Cedar Falls):  The Ohana Black 8th Grade team went 1-2 in matches (3-5 in games) in pool play but placed 2nd on tie-breakers to advance to the Championship Bracket.  After winning in two sets in the semi-finals of the Championship Bracket, they lost in two games in the championship match to place 2nd out of 8 teams in the final standings.


Ohana Green 8th Grade Team: 
January 18th - Dubuque Tourney:  The Ohana Green 8th Grade team went 5-7 in games in this pool play only tournament placing 5th out of 8 teams.

January 4th - Drake Tourney (Des Moines):  The Ohana Green 8th Grade team went 6-4 in this pool play only tournament placing 3rd out of 6 teams.

Ohana Black 9th Grade Team (2 Titles): 
March 23rd - The Ohana 9th Grade Black team went undefeated in the Silver Iowa Regionals to win their 2nd championship!

February 23rd -  Advocare Tourney (Marion):  The Ohana Black 9th Grade team came out on top in this pool play only tournament to win their 1st championship of the season!

January 19th - Drake University Tourney (Des Moines):  The Ohana Black 9th Grade team went 4-2 in games in pool play but had to win a tiebreaker game to place 2nd in the pool.  In the Championship Bracket, they lost in two sets to place 3rd out of 8 teams in the final standings.


January 12th - Corridor Courts Tourney (Marion):  The Ohana Black 9th Grade team went 2-2 in matches (6-5 in games) in this pool play only tournament placing 3rd out of 5 teams.



Ohana Green 9th Grade Team (1 Title):

Ohana Black 10th Grade Team (1 Title):
March 9th - Eldon Tournament:  The Ohana Black 10th Grade team won this tournament!

January 19th - Drake University Tourney (Des Moines):  The Ohana Black 10th Grade team went 2-4 in pool play but won a tie-breaker game to place 2nd in their pool.  In the Championship Tourney, they lost in 2 sets in the semi-finals to place 3rd out of 8 teams in the final standings.

Ohana Black 11th Grade Team (1 Title):
February 22nd - Six Pack Tourney (Cedar Falls):  The Ohana Black 11th Grade team went undefeated in pool play, won a 3-set semi-final match, and a 3-set finals match to win their first championship of the season!

February 15th - 16th - Presidents' Day Tournament (Minneapolis):  The Ohana Black 11th Grade team placed 11th out of 32 teams in the Gold Division of this tournament.

February 9th - CIS Tourney (Des Moines):  The Ohana Black 11th Grade team went 2-2 in this pool play only tournament to place 5th out of 9 teams.

Febraury 1st - PowerPlex Tourney (Waukee):  The Ohana Black 11th Grade team went 5-1 in pool play, won in 2 sets in the semi-final match, and lost in a close 3-set championship match to place 2nd in this 17U/18U tournament.

January 18th - 20th - MLK Weekend Tourney (Kansas City, MO):  The Ohana Black 11th Grade team went 3-3 in matches in pool play (9-7 in games) to advance to the Bronze flight championship.  In the semi-finals, they lost in 3 sets after winning a highly competitive 2nd game 30-28 after trailing 7-16.  They tied for 17th place out of 24 teams in this tourney.


January 4th - Drake Tourney (Des Moines):  The Ohana Black 11th Grade team went 5-5 in this pool play only tournament placing 4th out of 6 teams.

Ohana Green 11th Grade Team (1 Title):
March 30th - Vinton Tournament:  The Ohana Green 11th Grade team won this tournament!

March 3rd - Tiffen Tournament:  The Ohana Green 11th Grade team went 8 - 0 in pool play, won the semi-final match in two games, but lost the championship match in 3 close sets to place 2nd in this tournament.

January 18th - 20th - MLK Weekend Tourney (Kansas City, MO):  The Ohana Green 11th Grade team went 2-4 in matches in pool play (7-8 in games) to advance to the Bronze flight championship.  In the semi-finals, they lost in 2 sets and tied for 17th place out of 24 teams in this tourney.


January 12th - Norwalk Tourney:  The Ohana Green 11th Grade team went 3-3 in pool play placing 3rd in their pool.  In the consolation bracket, they won in two sets in the semi-final match and won the championship match in 3 sets.



Our Mission:

The Ohana Volleyball Club is an independent organization dedicated to the development of girls’ volleyball skills, the establishment of team fundamentals, and the fostering of strong character.

Our Goals:

1.  Have players and coaches keep a positive mental attitude in every situation.

2.  Support your teammates on and off the court.

3.  Work hard and put forth honest effort that will lead to improved performance
     and participation in practice and in tournament play.

4.  Enjoy the sport of volleyball in order to make it a lifelong endeavor.

5.  Create a team of players who will continue to play together year after year.

6.  Make Ohana Volleyball Club and its philosophy the predominate club in the
     Des Moines area.
7.  Be competitive in every tournament that we enter.

8.  Foster a sense of family among the players, parents, and coaches.

9.  Keep an open mind and willingness to play any position that the coach deems
     best for the team.

10.  Have each player improve throughout the season in every volleyball skill.
